Zoomiami's WunderBlog

Wunderground Community & Google Earth

This project was started during the slow time of summer with the intentions of creating a map of all the wunderground bloggers. (and for me to get more experience with web pages and graphics)   Funny how these thing get a life of their own, and it now includes information on how to use Google Earth along with the different overlays that show tracks, warnings, and most of all, the recon information.

The KMZ file, which contains the information for Google Earth,  can be downloaded and changed any way you would like.  The members are all listed by state.  While you can edit anything you like, the next time you download an updated file those changes will be overwritten.

If you see anything you like, or have suggestions for new things, just leave a comment or send to my WU mail at "ZooMiami"

Hope you Enjoy.

Google Earth - How To's

Hi everyone - per requests - here are the instructions to use Google Earth. Sometimes you have to be patient, it can be slow & cranky.

1) In order to view either the wunderground file, the track files, or the hurricane hunters, you must have google earth on your computer. It is a free download and can be found on the Google Earth - Links page.

2) Once you have Google Earth, you then need to access the specific file that you want to load. For the wunderground information you have to actually download the file and save to your computer - it will give you the option to open after save, this is the best way. The KMZ file is on the front page of this site.

3) To view the tracks of the storms and other weather related items, look under your places to the grouping called Layers. To activate any of those simply click on the box on the left hand side. Tracks, etc are under "Weather".

4) To view the Hurricane Hunters as they are out, you can choose from several links - these are also on the links page.

Both of these will open on download, again be patient, they are big files, and update automatically.

If you would like to be added - please leave a comment or send me WU mail.
